We're two friends from Dorking who have known each other for nearly 30 years. We share two main interests - glass and the love of travelling (ok - we quite like wine and good food too!).

Glass first ... we have been dabbling in glass for about eight years - firstly with leaded and copper foiled stained glass, and then with glass jewellery. But once introduced to the world of dichroic glass, we were hooked! You can't help but be excited by the wonderful range of colours and textures dichroic glass offers. And it's magical to layer different glasses, fuse them in a kiln and produce a unique and beautiful piece of jewellery.

 Some of our pieces are very difficult to photograph - it's hard to capture the "depth" and changing colours. And be warned ... this jewellery can be addictive and we have many return customers!

 Now the travel ... over the years we've visited some amazing countries, firstly as back packers and lately with our families in tow. A recent Big Trip was to Vietnam and Cambodia, where we fell in love with the people and their handmade silks and quirky coconut products!  We're keen to support these small businesses and have made local contacts, who now ship things over to us.

This Easter we went to Indonesia (our second visit there) and stayed in Lombok and Bali.  As always, the Far East doesn't disappoint, the people were lovely and we've made more contacts.  And, vitally for Pink Chicken Designs, we found some great jewellery and, yes, more bowls ... this time made and smelling of cinnamon.  Every bathroom should have one!  Plus we combined our dichroic glass with local silver, so watch this space (especially around Christmas time) - there will be a new take on our dichroic jewellery very soon!

 Our next trip?  We're off to Murano, Venice, to find some more Venetian glass jewellery ... so please keep buying so we can keep travelling (and finding original gifts)!
